YSL Libre

Libre – One of the fanciest yet chic bottle from Yves Saint Laurent! There is a gold YSL Cassandra Logo hardware (similar to the one we see on YSL handbags) wrapping the glass bottle freely. There are sexy golden chains on the neck of the bottle which are contrasted by a graphic asymmetric black lacquered lid. The bottle is edgy and it says it all!

YSL Libre is a relatively new fragrance and was launched in 2019. This was created by Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaim.

The fragrance is targeted towards women. It is all about a woman who can do anything freely whether it is living freely, feeling happy, crying freely. Libre is about woman empowerment which is absolutely amazing.

Fragrance Category – Oriental Floral

Notes

Top: Mandarin, Blackcurrent, Lavender, Petitgrain

Middle: Jasmine, Lavender, Orange Blossom

Base: Madagascar Vanilla, Cedar, Musk and Ambergris

The opening is slightly unisex for me and my husband thinks this is quite like YSL L’homme. The fragrance has a blast of lavender which kind of reminds me of Mon Guerlain a bit and that’s because Mon Guerlain also has Lavender (which is not very common in fragrances) as one of the notes. It also has vanilla which you can easily tell. I cannot smell black currant a lot but it is there. The dry down is musky vanilla with Jasmine and amber which makes a beautiful concoction. If you have Alien by Mugler in your collection, you may think the dry down of Libre going in that direction and that’s due to white florals with amber and woodiness going on here. However, Libre is lighter and airier than Alien.

Sillage & Longevity – This fragrance projects well and lasts a few hours on me.

Final Thoughts – This is a fragrance for strong, confident women. It is not like in your nose kind of scent and is more like-able and acceptable. It is fresh, a little sophisticated, and also appropriate for office wear. This is not an obnoxious scent and is so universal that any age can wear it! You will get compliments with this scent. I like this one for spring and summer.
