Hello Loves,
Hope you’re well. Its still chilly here in the England but I am ready for the spring. I am prepping my makeup stash for spring /summer and keeping my plums and dark shades in separate containers now.
When its spring, people think about either bright or pastel colors. I cannot handle bright makeup tbh so I usually stay with what suits me most and complements my skintone. Whatever colors I want to add for a particular day, I do it with accessories(scarf/ handbag/clutch/heels/jewellery etc).
I feel warm bronze look makeup complements medium skin tones most. Sohere, I have picked few bits and bobs from my stash which I think can give us that bronze glow for warm/olive/medium toned women 🙂
BB Cream
For years, I have been using Garnier BB cream and I cannot recommend this enough. It is very light and gives me natural finish. You can even try any tinted moisturiser as Spring/Summer is for natural skin instead of heavy cake on the face 🙂 It is available from any drugstore.
Bronzer
Bronzer is essential for summer even if you are a bit darker than my skin tone. As soon as u add some bronzer to your skin , you will realize how beautiful is to look fresh and sunkissed. I have picked Benefit’s Hoola bronzer £23.50 which is a cult favourite among beauty bloggers and makeup artists. This can be purchased from feelunique website(they do international shipping) or any outlet that sells Benefit cosmetics products.
Cream Blush
I like to look dewy so I avoid powder blushes in spring/summer. Cream blushes also work well if you have dry skin. If you have oily skin, you can use a mattifying primer as a base before bb cream or tinted foundation and can use cream blushes easily.
I have picked Illamasqua cream blush £22 in the shade Dixie (warm coral pink with dewy finish) as they do very good quality cream blushers. Illamasqua blushers can be purchased from Selfridges, Debenhams, Asos.com , net-a-porter.com, beautybay.com or Illamasqua website. I think beautybay.com and asos.com ship internationally as well.
If you like powder blushers more than Cream ones, then I recommend checking Clinique Cheek Pop blushes (Ginger Pop) check my insta post here and Nars blushes in shade Orgasm (Peach with gold shimmer) and Taj Mahal (orange with gold shimmer)
Cream Highlighter
Cream highlighters work well for strobing or as a base under powder highlighters to make your highlight on fleek. I have picked Topshop glow pot in shade Gleam £9 which is a warm rose gold highlight. It makes my cheek bones pop and I look few years younger when i have this on, I am not kidding! You can read about this more here and I have posted swatches as well.
Shimmer strips
At the Moment there are plenty of shimmer strips in the market and Bobbi Brown being the most famous one.
I have picked Collection shimmer strips which is very inexpensive £4 and is called Collection Gorgeous Glow. It gives beautiful bronze glow to me cheek bones. I have seen Seventeen , Revlon as well as Makeup revolution ones and they are beautiful too.
If you are in the US, Physicians Formula shimmer strips is worth checking out. PF does beautiful packaging of all their products. Wish their products were available here in the UK.
Mascara
I have tried many mascaras and the best from drugstore hands down is Maybelline lash sensational mascara. It retails for £7.99 in the UK and does a brilliant job at curling as well as separating you lashes. I think this will look so good with dewy makeup. This can be purchased from Superdrug or Boots.
Lipstick
I have picked a Nude lipstick for summer. Its Mac Velvet teddy £15.50 which is pinky nude and I do like my Rimmel Spice liner underneath just to add a bit of warmth to this lipstick. I am not a gloss person so whatever weather it is, it has to be lipstick for me. I also like Soap and Glory Naked Beige which is Satin finish and a similar lipstick from Indian drugstore would be Lakme Enrich Satins 129 which was my favourite bullet for many years and i still love it. You can check swatches of these lipsticks on my older post here.
Hope you all like my picks. What makeup would u pick for Spring/Summer? Let me know in the comments section below 🙂
Loads of love, Akanksha (Ash)
