Hope you are well. As you know I love my highlighters and lipsticks, I tend to buy these even internationally (if they are hyped about). Well, today I am sharing my views on Lakme 9 to 5 lipsticks which are from Indian high street. I did not personally bought these but when I saw these on internet last year, I requested my lovely sister Shruti to get these for me. These are in the market from quite some time now and Lakme amped up with the packaging and stuff. The 9 to 5 range was launched more than 6-7 or may be more years ago when I used to live in India. They were long wearing makeup tailored for working women ( i.e why they gave it 9 to 5 name).
Packaging
First of all these beautiful rose gold bullets just stand out among my other lipsticks. The 9 to 5 lipsticks from years ago were sleek matte lipsticks but lakme has changed it and came up with more glossy metallic looking plastic bullets. These newer packaging looks so stunning and luxurious. I also read it that they launched so many shades in their 9 to 5 lipsticks. So, I am sure there is a shade for every one. Well, i have just two shades to share which look similar but still they are very different ( if you are a lipstick hoarder like me, you will know what I mean).
Shades
I have shades Red Chaos (which is extremely popular from this range) and Toffee Nexus. Red Chaos is nowhere chaotic and bright but it is a beautiful subtle red which is perfect for every day work wear. I love this shade that i can wear it almost daily without looking bold 🙂 Toffee Nexus is a peachy brown kinda shade (i thought it would be browny or caramel kinda shade, haha) which is also great for work wear or with smokey eye look.. Its basically a neutral shade lipstick and I love my neutrals!
Formula/ texture & Longevity
The formula is matte but it is not very matte as we have our matte liquid lipsticks or even Mac matte lipsticks. these are silky matte lipsticks and glides smoothly on lips. These lipsticks have Vitamin E and Wheat germ oil so they are not drying on lips. However, these do not last as long as my Mac lipsticks do. So, if you are going for a special event, I would not recommend wearing this. These lasts for about 3-4 hours at the max if you drink and eat. I love wearing these because of the texture and beautiful shade range.
Price
These are very affordable and I think they are priced at 400 Rs in India which is roughly £4 . You don’t get any luxe looking lipstick at such a price in the UK. Do you? Absolute bargain ! Have a great rest of the week, my loves <3
