Banana Republic Icon Collection – Metal Rain & Grassland

You might know Banana Republic as a clothing brand from the United States. They’re a part of The GAP, Inc. The brand also makes fragrances that are quite affordable fragrances and value for money. They’re easy to find in the UK now.

I absolutely love the color of the bottles. I do have a couple more fragrances (Peony & Peppercorn as well as Dark cherry & Amber) from the brand also in similar packaging but different colors ofcourse! The packaging is minimal but still colorful. The bottles look chic, to be honest.

Grassland is an aromatic green fragrance for both men and women. The top notes are Mint, Apple, Bergamot, and Pomelo; the middle notes are Ozonic notes, Petitgrain, Lavender, and Geranium; and the base notes are Moss, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Ambergris and Vanilla. The sillage and longevity are moderate on my skin. I heard this scent is very reminiscent of Green Irish Tweed by Creed Fragrances. I haven’t tried GIT yet so I cannot comment on the similarities with that fragrance but Grassland does smell lovely and is easy to wear as an everyday cologne/scent for both men and women. I find myself drawn towards it during wet weather more than any other fragrance. This is a slightly minty, woodsy, fruity fragrance. This can easily be an office scent or can be worn for running errands. I also see it as a lovely out-of-the-shower clean fragrance. Grassland is likely to get you a few compliments.

Metal Rain is a woody aromatic fragrance that reminds me of Silver Mountain Water from Creed. I didn’t have this in my collection but managed to order a decant of SMW. I wouldn’t say it is a clone as they’re different from one another but do share a similar vibe. The top notes are Violet Leaf, Black Currant, Lemon, and Basil; the middle notes are Ozonic notes, Lavender, Green Tea, and Galbanum; and the base notes are Sandalwood, Ambrocenide, Cashmeran, and Musk. Metal rain is a slightly darker version of a fresh fragrance. I really like the Green tea note here that gives a relaxing vibe to the woody base. The sillage and longevity are moderate for me. This is also an easy-to-wear fragrance but I like it better on my husband and prefer Grassland on me.

I feel Banana Republic Fragrances are quite mass-appealing. If you want to smell like Niche fragrances but don’t have a budget for them, I highly recommend checking out Banana Republic Fragrances. They smell way more expensive for the price and the presentation is no less than modern niche houses either.
